OZ WINTER: layers and basics

 1:
I love winter. Mainly cause you can layer anything and everything on. So this first one is just a basic knit jumper, paired with mid waist pants and sandals. I would wear some nice winter boots with these, but i am still waiting to invest in some nice ones...  I added some contrast to it through the "shining, shimmering" scarf. It was a very comfy and warm fit for the day i think.

-jumper: thrifted $10
-jeans: Wrangler $80
-shoes: Rubi $15

2:
Like i said. LAYERS. LAYERS. LAYERS. if you know me, i love wearing loose clothing. I hardly ever wear tight fitting clothes. So i just loved how comfy this was. I basically layered my mums coat, on a khaki green button up and just a basic black shirt and mid waist jeans. I also paired it with some thrifted flats that matched the khaki button up.

-coat: Millers $20
-button up: Rivers $20
-jeans: Lee $70
-shoes: thrifted $5

3:
Ok, so i am having this thing where i am just really loving basics with a fling. idk if i said that right. Basically, i recently bought a whole lot of these longsleeve tops, that are free flowing, and i love it. By "a whole lot" i mean two.  I felt like a black day this day, but i brought a touch of colour through the scarf as usual.

-top: Giordano $5?!?!?!?
-leggings: target $10
-shoes: same as first
-scarf: idk

Ok, that is all for this weeks post, i shall be back in two weeks. Mwa

OZ WINTER: outfit idea 1

Okay, so i havent kept my weekly blog post promise, but I am attempting to do a new post fortnighlt this winter :)
Ok, so in topsy turvy town, winter just recently started in the month of june. This is a bit late to start, but better late than never :)

Here, is my first OZWINTER outfit idea.

- coat: ValleyGirl $10 (from $70 :0)
-trousers: UniQlo $35
-shoes: JayJays $20
-scarf: ebay $15
I wore this out to the city at night, and it was probably one of the windiest nights. I was so happy when I bought this coat, because i have just been really loving it. And the pink is such a nice pop of colour in a winter wardrobe. The pink was enough colour for me, so i oretty much stayed by the winter rule of black for the rest of my outfit.

These trousers are also one of my favourite go to pieces, cause they are so comfortable aahhh. And i love the print on them.

Expect to see more knits and coats for the rest of OZWINTER ideas :)

RECENT HAUL: Winter edition

So like, I havent been shopping in a while , since I spent the past few months and weeks, working and pretty much on uni assignments. So within the last 2 weeks i have been digging a hole in my wallet, and I have no regrets.
oh and I know i havent been posting outfits and that. But if you guys want some outfit ideas and how to wear some of these items, let me know! :)

Enjoy!

 #1- Makeup:
I do only buy drugstore products because I have easier access to them and I feel that I can actualy use it as much as I can without being scared of spending a whole lot more money for replacements. Priceline had some 3 for 2 deals and whatnot so I was excited.
- NYX Jumbo pencil in "cottage cheese"- $9.99
- Maybelline Babylips in "berry" and "orange"- $3.95 each
- Revlon colorburst matte balm in 225- $12.95
- Rimmel Stay matte foundation in 303- $9.99
- Maybelline fit me concealer in 35- $14.95
- Face of Australia matte eyelid primer- $7.99
-Face of Australia HD liquid eyeliner-$7.99 (not in photo)

 #2 Shoes:
I dont own that many casual sneakers, and so I fell in love when I saw that these babies were getting released. I was so happy to get them on pre sale as well, about a week before they were going to officially release.

Nike Liberty Roshes- $190

 #3- Bottomwear:
It is getting cold out, and I realised that I only have jeans in my wardrobe. I wanted something that will be easy to wear in the winter and is really comfy and warm, so I spent some money investing in some trousers.
- Paperscissors floral pencil skirt- $15
-Mink velvet skater skirt- $15
-UniQlo corduroy and printed jeggings- $30 each
-Paperscissors trousers- $20
  #4- tops and outerwear:
As it is winter, I didnt really buy many tops and stuff. So I just spent it in a good quality hoodie lol.
- Stussy hoode- $99.95
-Paperscissors fluffy cropped trutleneck- $10
- Mink "Coco Chanez" top - $34.99

For a post on how, and why I would wear some of these items please let me know.

GRWM: everyday makeup routine

So like i said in my past posts, sorry i haven't been able to post :( just no time at all. But today (well yesterday) i had the whole day to myself so i thought "its blogging time" and so i filmed an everyday makeup routine, because i was going out to the shops. So yeh, hope you enjoy :)

This is quite heavy makeup, in comparison to others but thats bc i have the roundest and discoloured face so i have a lot of concealing and contouring to do. When i say everyday, it means the days when i go out to uni, or my friends and during the weekend.

Some of the products i used were also philippine drugstore brands that i loveddd. So im sure you guys can find another alternative here in aus, or wherever you are :)

Without further adieu, heres to the debut of my many future youtube videos :)

Also, dont forget to comment, rate and subscribe! :)
Expect to have a new youtube video up every fortnight and a new blogpost everyweek :) i shall try and do that from now :)

Mercedez Benz Fahion Week: Australia

So like I haven't been able to post at all for quite a while, and I am very very sorry. I have been hammered by work and uni and I haven't been able to post at all. So I hope you guys enjoy :)

This week was Mercedez Benz Fashion Week in the land down under, and I am so sad that I wasn't able to be part of the volunteer team due to UNI, but I hope I will be able to next time. I think it would have been an absolute memorable experience to be backstage during the show, and just seeing how everything goes on.

I was very very impressed by some of the designers collections this year, because they were actually wearable clothes. Not like others, that are so so out there only Lady Gaga can wear them. There was over 50 designers that showcased in Sydney all throughout the week, some of them are well known while others some may have never even heard of.

Soo, here are my top 3 fave collections. enjoy!

Alice McCall
This collection was all about the colour, detailing and the fun. I absolutely love the pastel palette incorporated in it, as well as the layering in some of these designs. Off-Shoulder dresses, playsuits and blouses are so in, and this collection proves how stunning it is, especially when paired with a 'sweetheart' neckline. Like I said, this is a very wearable collection that can be worn at formal occasions; I can see these designs to be worn at the races.

Cameo
Cameo is known for their experimental and visionary designs, meaning they have set an innovative level of a way to dress. Like the McCall collection, there are also a lot of off shoulder designs, paired with a lot of drape and layering. This collection proves that peplum is far from over, by just adding to a few changes to a classic peplum shape. One of my favourites recently is the simple lace overlays and applique, and I think this collection did that some justice. This collection can be worn from smart casual events to strictly formal occasions.

Raffles College of Design

This collection is not by one well known designer, instead it has been compiled by 6 different aspiring designers who have really proved themselves. The details, layers, use of colour and just the sense of uniqueness in their designs show that they are on their way to success. They have really lived up to the trends on the catwalk this week, which is one of the essentials of being a fashion designer. But at the same time they have done so in each of their own different way. Their designs were elegant, sleek and smooth. Definitely some inspiration for formal wear.

Honestly, out of these three collections I don't have a favourite, but I'm sure everyone has their own taste, so feel free to check out some of the other designers' work this week.

Dramatic Actress Portrait

So like, i have never EVER modelled in my life. HAHAH. But this was so fun. It was pretty much for a friends assignment check out his blog here
I was pretty awkward at first because there was light everywhere and I pretty much had to be heaps dramatic bc yeh the theme. I also had to look into the light like half the time, so i was blind half the time. But it was heaps good. I did my own makeup, which I am not fairly happy about. But it was still ok i guess because it was all about the lighting and the photography.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE THE BACKGROUND. AND I THINK MY BLACK AND WHITE OUTFIT DID SOME VERY GREAT CONTRASTING.

So yah enjoy :)  hopefully we get to collab some more for future blog shoots :)

UNI ASSIGNMENT

So like its been a while since I've posted. Its mostly because  haven't had time to take photos of outfits, or theres no one there to actually take one. If I can this week, I'll start recording some of my uni outfits and yeh my recent Glebe haul.

This one is a pretty random post, just a trailer to my upcoming uni assignment. I don't know why but this made me so excited because I have never edited a video before.
It was a pretty fun assignment because all I had to do was go on learning excursions and just experience random things.

So I chose to go and "experience" Glebe Markets, Drive In cinemas and the Chinese Garden at Nurragingy. (it was pretty crap, I'm thinking of going to the city one instead.) so yeh heres like a crappy preview of what I did. LOL

Glebe was heaps great. Just too bad I didn't have enough money even though everything there was already heaps cheap. But yeh I have always been a vintage lover, and so for me I went crazy. My favourite was the Miss Brown stall selling everything for $10. Miss Brown is one of Australia's top vintage brands and it was so great to see everything here for $10. Stay tuned to see what I managed to get soon :)

Oscar 2014 favourites

Cate Blanchett in Giorgio Armani
Matthew McConaughey in Dolce and Gabbana
Camila Alves in Gabriela Cadena

Sandra Bullock in Alexander McQueen

Emma Watson in Vera Wang
Just to sum it up, I am absolutely in love with these gowns because they have that sense on simplicity yet they are still amazing. I love love love the drapery on all these outfits especially on Camila's one.
They are all just so simple yet so very elegant.

All.u.re trends and fashion inspiration

SO like I said, here are some ideas they have posted on their facebook page. Some of these were posted ages ago, but I think they are still very relevant to the trends today :)

MIDI SKIRT
Midi skirts are so classy, modest and so very comfortable. They show off your girly allure without showing too much. I think they can work on anyone and with anything.

WINTER VIBE
Like the girls have said "who said your winter wardrobe can only be full of black and grey?" This set of photos shows you how to add that pop of colour to your winter wardrobe.

FANCY TROUSERS
I think these babies are a MUST HAVE for any season. They can be both warm and cool at the same time. They go great with anything. So here are some ideas.

THE SHIFT DRESS
These dresses were so in this summer season but who said you cant work them in the winter? Just add some stockings and a nice comfy coat or oversized knit cardigans and youre good to go.

WORKING WHITE
I think that anything white, can really radiate a girl's glow and "allure". The white is so subtle yet very appealing. It is a neutral colour so you can dress it up or down.

All.u.re workshop

It's been a while since I've posted because I haven't really had much time lately due to starting uni and also because my job has been giving me a whole lot of shifts lately. But today, I just wanted to share a few things on what I learnt at our YFC sector meeting yesterday with the All.u.re girls.

Although, it wasn't my first time hearing them, it was an absolute honour to hear them again. After a year of hearing them last, I can truly say that I needed that friendly reminder to boost my confidence again.

Just a bit of background on them, the All.u.re workshop aims to help young women embrace their allure (inner and outer beauty), they also assist in helping girls to take knowledge of their value and recognize their uniqueness. They focus on teaching young women to dress in a way that will radiate this allure with respect for their body, as well as fashion as a means of their self-expression. If you want to get to know them more HERE is their facebook page :)

Yesterdays session focused on three things: the philosophy of beauty, self respect and relationships. I didn't take much notes but here are some.

Philosophy of beauty:
  • beauty is universal and taste is personal.
  • three of qualities of true beauty: radiance, harmony and completeness. A person should radiate their inner beauty through the way they dress and the way they present themselves.
  • Women today tend to be seen as objects, evident through media. Instead they should be seen as subjects and a form of God's gift.
Self-respect:
  • Self- representation: women should radiate their allure through the way they present themselves.
  • Ridicule vs respect: most women today, use their allure for gaining attention rather than self- respect. If a women learns to respect themselves, others will too.
  • Confidence vs insecurity: to make themselves feel better, women tend to judge and compare themselves with others. As a woman we should learn to care and not compare.
Relationships:
  • "If you are your authentic self, you have no competition."
  • create beauty with your attitude, behavior and your actions."
I encourage you to take a look at their facebook page as well as their instagram @all.u.re_workshop for some GREAT fashion inspiration and just some daily reminders.

I will be posting some fashion inspiration they have posted so stay tuned :)

Elsa Inspired

So like, I was supposed to go out today, but everyone cancelled on me, so instead I thought "Why not be a girl and play with some makeup?"
Yeh, so here's my first tutorial, and it was inspired by Elsa the Snow Queen. Who doesn't love Frozen? And who doesn't love this beautiful Snow Queen.
Like I said, this is my first tutorial so bare with me I have any mistakes whatsoever. I'm trying to survive on a limited kit, because I am still saving up for some real good quality ones.

I will just focus on the eyes in this tutorial as its the main part to Elsa's look...

  • get your lids ready with a base primer and a neutral shade of eyeshadow all the way to the lid.
  • apply some purple glittery eye shadow into the outer and inner thirds of your eye lid. TIP: use an eye sponge instead of a brush in a dabbing motion to increase the intensity of the colour.
  • apply a lighter shade of glittery purple shadow. here I used a mix of a light purple and pink int the middle of the lid. Blend with a clean brush to avoid any harsh lines.
  • apply some silver eyeshadow into your tear ducts, and onto the bottom inner thirds. This just brightens up and brings out the eye.
  • mix some pink and red eyeshadow along with a very pigmented pink blush and apply onto your outer V, bringing it up just above your crease.
  • apply white eye liner onto your lower water line, and line only the outer thirds of your upper and bottom lash line.
  • Curl your eye lashes and apply a thick coat of mascara, on both your bottom and upper lashes. PS this look would look better with some falsies, I just didnt have any on me, so I encourage you to wear some false eye lashes.
  • lastly, contour your cheek bones, temples and jawline. TIP: I like to use a brown eye shadow, because it doesnt have that orange undertone, like bronzers, so it gives you a darker "shade-like" pigment. Apply some bluch onto the apples of your cheek, blending it onto your cheek bones.
  • Oh and dont forget your nice soft pink lipstick. MWA
thanks for reading!!

Love, VeraCzarina

ps: if you guys noticed, I didnt name my products because some of you may probably have better quality makeup, I just had to work with what I had.
pps: i dont advice you to wear this for an everyday thing, probably just for dress up parties and formal occasions.

Valentine's Day outfit ideas

hello again everyone, I'm back for another post... and since Valentine's Day is coming up in a week or so, I decided to plan out so cute, comfy and classy outfits. Also, I think that wearing red on Valentine's Day is a tad too mainstream, so I thought I would stream away from that. So yah, enjoy :) PS, I also had a recent thrift shop haul so you'll see some of the items I got.

 #1
This one is plain and simple, but I think that the teal accessories bring it together. I am loving this skirt I got from the Philippines, so be prepared to see more of it in the future. This would be great for a casual lunch,or movie dates.

-Top: JayJays $10
-Skirt: Forever 21 $30
- Belt: Thrifted $5
- Shoes: Payless Shoes $20
 #2
This one is probably the most formal out of these 3 outfits, and I think its pretty obvious how much I am loving florals right now. This is also probably my favourite, its perfect for dinner dates out by Darling Harbour or pretty much anywhere nice.

-Top: Markets in the Philippines
-Jacket: Thrifted $12
-Skirt: Chicabooti $10
-Shoes: SM Department Store Philippines
#3
Okay, this one I think is very plain, simple and chic... This would also be great for those movie dates or just strolling around sightseeing. I am in love with this bag that I managed to get my hands on in my recent Thriftshop haul, ugh..

- Dress: PaperScissors $10
-Jacket: Thrifted $5
-Bag: Thrifted $20
-Shoes: same as #1

Well, that's it for me today, if you have any ideas for my next post you can contact me through my ask.fm/veraczarina  :) PS sorry for the poorly laid out outfits, I will start modelling future outfit ideas/posts sometime in the next few weeks.

Dress-Shirts: Is it a dress, or is it a shirt?

As some of you may or may not know, Australia is also known as topsy-turvy town. That's because, while everyone else has a white Christmas, we have a very tanned and orange one. The weather down here, is like I said pretty much "topsy-turvy." You never know if it will be hot and sunny, cold and sunny, hot and rainy or cold and rainy. So here are a few basic outfit ideas that you can pretty much dress up or down depending on the weather :). As this IS my first post, I'm also starting with outfit ideas that are VERY VERY affordable :) So stay tuned.

I see a lot of baseball shirts nowadays, and I think they are ADORABLE. So I got my hands on one, and I LOVE IT. This one, I got for $10 and is real good quality from Kmart. Outfit ideas:

  • hot-sunny: the fact that it is very comfortable and it is white, makes it really wearable during these type of days. It is a bit short, so pair it with a black pencil skirt underneath and you're good to go. You can also play around with how you want it. So, personally I like to just tuck half the front in.
  • cold-sunny: pair it with some cuffed skinny jeans or leggings and you're warm and fresh. If your arms get cold, layer a parka or an oversize cardigan and its perfect.
  • hot-rainy: this type of weather is probably my most hated one. It is is yucky and sticky...EUGH. For these yucky days, cuffed blue skinny jeans would be just right.
  • cold-rainy: This is cozy weather so anything cozy would be amaze. So a pair of black velvet leggings, and a knit cardigan plus a hot milo and you're warm and cozy.

#2
#3
This dress-shirt I got from SES for again only $10 and there is so much you can do with it:
  • hot-sunny: This one is pretty long and just comes down right below the knees, so leave it as it is and pair it with some cut sandals and you are set. If loose clothing is not your thing, you can tie up one corner so that it becomes a fitted dress.
  • cold-sunny: This dress covers most of your legs, so it would be great for this type of weather. Any cardigan or blazer on top would add that warmth onto your day.
  • hot-rainy: personally, I hate getting my legs wet so pop on a pair of leggings and some nice kicks, and your bottom half is protected. Otherwise, a parka or any waterproof jackets would be good.
  • cold-rainy: any type of leggings, some Doc Marten boots and an oversize knit cardigan will keep you warm and set for the day.

This one I got from PaperScissors a while back, so I don't really remember exactly how much it was, but it was around $20..
  • hot-sunny: This one is really thin so make sure you wear a tight fitting white singlet dress underneath. For hot and sunny weather this is great just as it is. You can accessorize with a black statement necklace or a belt, BUT NOT BOTH.
  • cold-sunny: I like my oversize clothing, so I have quite a few oversize parkas or blazers, so I think any of the two would go great for this type of weather and this dress.
  • hot-rainy: well this is a dress-shirt, so you can tuck it into some high waist boyfriend/vintage jeans and some boots or nice kicks and you're good to go.
  • cold-rainy: and pair with some more high waited jeans, a parka and some Doc Martens you are warm and cozy.
